Garrett Riegg and Judy Saltzman will give a presentation on the historical predecessors of
the Court, and the seminal cases that have shaped it.
“In one stroke, Chief Justice Marshall managed to establish the power of the Court as the
ultimate arbiter of the U.S. Constitution to chastise the Jefferson administration for its
failure to obey the law, and to avoid having the Court’s authority challenged by the
administration.”
